Aim

The research will focus on interdisciplinary reflection regarding Polish-German cultural borderland memory narratives, primary of the Pomerania region with its cultural centers, as well as on specific comparisons to the historical regions of East Prussia and Silesia.

A text of culture (literature / autobiographical / historical / visual) will be understood as a manifestation of functioning diverse memory narratives, and also the space of their deconstruction and modification, as well as construction of new ones. On one hand, it is situated at the crossing of memory and history, at a place where individual experience meets collective one. On the other hand, it is a medium of both collective and individual memory, as well as a space of dialog in diverse past narratives, representing various “memory communities”.
